PARENTS & CAREGIVERS
In person in Whitby, Ontario.
Virtual all across Ontario.
Caring for someone else can take a lot out of you. You deserve support too.
Parenting and caregiving can be deeply meaningful—and incredibly demanding. We provide a supportive, judgment-free space to navigate stress, overwhelm, relationships, identity, and the emotional weight of caring for others.
Support for the Person Behind the Caregiver
When so much of your time and energy goes toward meeting someone else's needs, your own needs can easily move to the bottom of the list.
You may be navigating challenging behaviours, advocating for your child, managing appointments and services, worrying about the future, balancing work and family life, or simply feeling exhausted by the mental load of keeping everything together.
Therapy gives you a space that is yours—to process what you're carrying, understand your own needs, and develop strategies that support both you and your family.
You Can Love Your Family and Still Find This Hard
Parenting and caregiving can bring complicated emotions. Love, pride and connection can exist alongside frustration, grief, resentment, guilt, exhaustion, or uncertainty.
Having difficult feelings doesn't mean you aren't a good parent or caregiver.
Therapy provides a space to talk honestly about experiences you may not feel comfortable sharing elsewhere—without judgment or expectations about how you "should" feel.
What We Can Support You With
The impact of first responder work can show up differently for everyone. Sometimes it's connected to a particular event. Other times, it's the accumulation of years of responsibility, exposure, shift work, and constantly needing to stay composed.

Caregivers & Family Members

You Are More Than Your Role as a Parent or Caregiver
Caring for others can become such a significant part of life that it can be difficult to remember where your needs, identity, relationships, and goals fit.
Therapy doesn't have to focus entirely on parenting.
This can also be a space to explore you—your mental health, relationships, identity, boundaries, experiences, and what you need to feel more like yourself again.
Supporting Yourself Can Support Your Family
Taking care of your mental health isn't separate from caring for the people who depend on you.
When parents and caregivers have space to process their own emotions, understand their triggers, strengthen coping strategies, and communicate their needs, it can positively influence the entire family system.
Therapy isn't about becoming a "perfect" parent. It's about helping you feel more supported, equipped, and connected while navigating a demanding role.
FAQS
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions! Please reach out if you have additional questions and a member of our team would be happy to assist you.
Do I need to be struggling with my mental health to come to therapy?
Not at all. Therapy can be helpful even when you’re not experiencing a specific mental health concern. Parents and caregivers may seek support for stress, parenting challenges, family changes, difficult emotions, or simply because they need a space to focus on themselves.
Can you help me with parenting strategies?
Yes. Therapy can help you better understand your child’s needs and behaviour while developing practical strategies for communication, boundaries, emotional regulation, and connection. Support is individualized to your family rather than focused on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Do you support parents of autistic or ADHD children?
Yes. We support parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children and teens, including those with autism and ADHD. Therapy can provide support around emotional and behavioural needs, advocacy, family dynamics, caregiver stress, and developing approaches that recognize and respect your child’s individual needs.
Can I attend therapy without my child?
Absolutely. Parent and caregiver therapy is focused on you, so your child does not need to attend. Your therapist can support you with your own mental health and wellbeing while also exploring parenting or caregiving challenges when they’re relevant.
What’s the difference between parent support and family therapy?
Parent and caregiver therapy primarily focuses on the needs, experiences, and goals of the parent or caregiver. Family therapy involves multiple family members and focuses more directly on relationships, communication, and patterns within the family as a whole. We can help you determine which approach makes the most sense for your situation.
Do you offer virtual therapy for parents and caregivers in Ontario?
Yes. We offer in-person therapy in Whitby and virtual psychotherapy throughout Ontario. Virtual appointments can be especially helpful for busy parents and caregivers who may find it difficult to fit travel or additional appointments into their schedules.
