A Safe Space For Your Family to
Be Heard

Family challenges can affect everyone in the household. It can sometimes be difficult to understand one another's perspectives or communicate effectively when emotions are high.

Family therapy provides a structured and supportive environment where family members can express their experiences, listen to one another, and work toward greater understanding. Our therapists help families identify patterns that may be contributing to difficulties and develop healthier ways of communicating and connecting.

Family involvement will look different for every family and will depend on the concerns being addressed and the needs of each family member.

Neurodiversity-Affirming
Family Therapy

Families may experience unique challenges when supporting a neurodivergent child or family member. Differences in communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, routines, and expectations can sometimes create additional stress within family relationships.

Our therapists can help families develop a better understanding of neurodivergence, improve communication, navigate differences, and build supportive strategies that respect the needs of each family member.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

When Should We Consider Family Therapy?

You don't need to wait until family difficulties become overwhelming before seeking support. Family therapy may be helpful when communication has become difficult, conflict is happening frequently, or family members are struggling to understand or support one another.

Families may also seek therapy during periods of change, such as separation, divorce, remarriage, a new sibling, a move, changes at school, or other significant life transitions.

Sometimes, family therapy is simply an opportunity to strengthen relationships and create healthier ways of communicating before concerns become more significant.

What Happens During the First Session?

The first family therapy session typically focuses on understanding your family's concerns, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to accomplish. Your therapist will work to understand each person's perspective and identify areas where support may be helpful.

Depending on your family's needs, sessions may include the whole family, certain family members together, or individual portions of a session. Your therapist will determine the most appropriate approach collaboratively with your family.

Family therapy is a collaborative process, and each family member's voice and experience can be an important part of the work.

Do All Members of The Family Need to Attend?

Not necessarily. Some sessions may include the entire family, while others may involve certain family members or individual portions of a session. The structure of therapy will depend on your family's concerns, goals, and the age and needs of the people involved.

Can Family Therapy Help With Separation / Divorce?

Family therapy can provide support for families navigating separation, divorce, or other significant changes in family structure. Therapy may focus on communication, adjusting to changes in family roles, supporting children and teens through transitions, and developing healthier ways of navigating family relationships.
