ABA THERAPY
Our trained ABA Team works collaboratively with you and/or your family to provide a structured, evidence-based approach that will help your child/teen develop positive behaviours and essential life skills. It focuses on understanding how behaviour is influenced by the environment and uses supportive strategies to improve communication, social skills, learning, and daily responsibilities.
ABA Therapy also helps reduce challenging behaviours by teaching practical coping and self-management skills in a supportive, individualized setting.
Integrating ABA into Mental Health

At Mindful Mental Health, we believe that effective support combines compassion with science. Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a research-based approach grounded in the psychology of learning and behaviour. While ABA is widely recognized for its benefits in supporting individuals with autism, its principles extend far beyond — offering meaningful applications across the mental health field.
When practiced ethically and collaboratively, ABA provides practical tools for developing emotional regulation, improving communication, reducing anxiety, and building daily living skills. These same principles form the foundation of many mental health approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other behavioural interventions.
At Mindful Mental Health, we use ABA through a modern, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming lens. This means focusing on autonomy, choice, and self-understanding — not compliance. Our goal is to help clients of all backgrounds strengthen their wellbeing and reach goals that are personally meaningful to them.
By integrating ABA into a mindful, person-centered model, we bridge the gap between behavioural science and emotional healing — supporting growth, connection, and confidence in everyday life.

FAQS
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions! Please reach out if you have additional questions and a member of our team would be happy to assist you.
WHAT IS ABA THERAPY?
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on building meaningful skills and reducing behaviours that may interfere with learning or daily life. ABA uses structured strategies, positive reinforcement, and measurable goals to support growth in communication, social interaction, independence, and emotional regulation.
WHO IS ABA THERAPY FOR?
ABA therapy is commonly used to support children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but it can also benefit individuals with developmental delays, behavioural challenges, or skill deficits in areas such as communication and daily living.
WHAT SKILLS DOES ABA FOCUS ON?
Goals are individualized and may include communication, social skills, emotional regulation, play skills, academic readiness, daily living skills (e.g., dressing, hygiene), and reducing challenging behaviours.
HOW IS PROGRESS MEASURED?
ABA is data-driven. Therapists collect and review data regularly to track progress toward goals. Programs are adjusted as needed to ensure meaningful, measurable growth.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL ABA SESSION LOOK LIKE?
Sessions may include structured teaching activities, play-based learning, social skills practice, and natural environment teaching. Therapy can take place in-clinic, at home, in school, or in the community, depending on the child’s needs.
ARE PARENTS INVOLVED?
Yes. Parent and caregiver involvement is a key component of successful ABA therapy. We provide guidance, coaching, and practical strategies so families can support skill development in everyday routines.
