GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPY

For Children and Teens

Group therapy for children and adolescents provides a safe, supportive space where young people can connect with peers facing similar challenges. Through guided activities, discussions, and skill-building exercises, participants learn to express emotions, develop coping strategies, and improve social and communication skills in a structured setting.

These sessions help reduce feelings of isolation, build confidence, and promote empathy and understanding among peers. With guidance from a trained therapist, kids and teens practice problem-solving, emotional regulation, and healthy relationship skills in a supportive group environment.

Group therapy empowers young people to grow, build resilience, and feel more connected—both to themselves and to others—while learning tools they can carry into everyday life.

Overview

The Regulation Retreat is a 2-week, small-group intensive for children ages 9–12 who experience big emotions, anxiety, or difficulty coping. Using evidence-based DBT skills developed by Marsha Linehan, children learn how to understand their feelings, manage emotional overwhelm, and build confidence in everyday situations.

Each day includes structured skill-building, creative activities, and outdoor time, helping kids practice what they learn in a supportive, engaging environment.

This program focuses on:

  • Emotional regulation

  • Coping skills for stress and frustration

  • Mindfulness and self-awareness

  • Building confidence and social skills

Small group sizes ensure individualized support and a safe space for growth.

  • Have difficulty with flexibility, transitions, or coping with stress

  • Are neurodivergent (including ADHD, autism, or sensory differences)

  • Struggle with confidence, friendships, or feeling “different”

  • Would benefit from learning skills in a supportive, small-group setting

  • Tools to calm their body and mind

  • Ways to cope with stress, frustration, and anxiety

  • Strategies for problem-solving and flexibility
